As the hotel's formal dining option and tiki bar, the Birdhouse embraces the drama and luxury of art deco design prevalent in the Regency. Like the Poolhouse, the menu is geometrically framed, and uses an illustrated jungle wallpaper pattern to ground it. However, the color palette is moodier, and its gold accents help elevate it.

Lobby Design
As with the pool, I designed a front desk/lobby for the Birdhouse to be commissioned from a local artist. Because Tiki is rooted in a romanticized and appropriative interpretation of Hawaiian/Polynesian culture, my design abstracts the traditional mask in favor of a more streamlined take. This is based on the woodwork of Mark Chai (see below).
